Aston Villa's former centre-half Jack Cork was sent off on Thursday night following a confrontation with a rival supporter in an Old Trafford bar in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 28-year-old appeared to be involved in a scuffle with another supporter at St. Louis's The Star in the early hours of Sunday afternoon.

The player was booked after leaving the game. Cork, who currently has no previous professional experience and played in a League Cup tie with Blackburn Rovers in 2014, is yet to comment on the incident.

Fellow player Jamie Cripps and three other players on the field had their shirts ripped away in the incident.

Cork made just 13 Premier League appearances during his time at Villa Park.

The bill also called for the relocation of children with intellectual disability from the home to a special community run by the regional government.

The regional government is to receive 50 percent of the cost of the care, with the rest divided between the central government and the central district administration.

The bill also allows for a five-year leave for parents to care for children with disabilities.

The bill, which passed the lower house in the last week of August, goes to the Senate, where it is likely to face a veto from the ruling People's Party (PP).

M©lida Lobo, an opposition Senator and the bill's main author, told the Rappler she hopes to pass the bill once a referendum is held next year.

'This is the first bill that addresses the needs of families of people with intellectual disabilities, to address the problems and challenges of this group,' she said.

She said her committee hopes to present the bill to the Senate by next month.

The bill will take effect in 2019 and the provincial government has until December 1 to propose amendments to the bill.

Rafael Mendes, the president of the regional parliament, told the Rappler he is open to the bill but warned the PPP is likely to oppose it.

'To be frank, the bill is not as good as the PPP wants it to be,' he said. 'We need to go to the people to convince them.'

Mendes argued the province does not control the care of children with intellectual disability.

'In the current system, people are left alone and, if they say that the care has gone bad, they are dismissed,' Mendes said.

The bill had been drafted by Mendes himself, but Mendes and his colleagues at the PPP have told the president of the regional assembly (RPA) that they can't support a law that could affect the care of children.

Mendes said they 'do not want to be accused of anything.'

'We should not be forced to participate in legislation that is not our own and our own members will never vote for,' the senator said.

It is a case Mendes said is rooted in a longstanding problem he said has divided families on the island, with many arguing the benefits of care are outweighed by the costs.
